A Brief Guide To Facial Aesthetics

When people talk about facial aesthetics, they are typically referring to treatments on the face that are not surgical and work to either defy the ageing process or rejuvenate the face to its former beauty.

Although there are many different clinics throughout the country providing a wide range of different small and non-surgical facial treatments, it is the clinic of Dr Darren McKeown Aesthetic Doctor that is one of the very best.

Understanding the basics

The treatments typically involve using injectables that have been deemed to be clinically safe. Their purpose is to either accentuate, put the volume back into, and define contours in the face; or to relax certain muscles in the face by blocking off nerve signals.

Unlike more intrusive plastic surgery treatments, facial aesthetics will not take decades off of your face, but what the treatments will do is make some of the signs of age much less apparent. You will end up looking refreshed and healthy, rather than necessarily looking younger.

Types of treatment

When it comes to facial aesthetics, there are two types that are predominantly used. These are dermal fillers and anti-ageing injections.

  • Dermal fillers

These work to replace the hyaluronic acid that is naturally present inside the human body but diminishes over time. The substance is responsible for keeping the skin on your face moisturized. By using fillers, they work to not only rejuvenate your skin, but also add greater volume. They even have the ability to smoothen out and fill in certain facial features in order to provide a reshaping from within. These fillers last for 9 months and then will need replacing in order to maintain the results.

  • Anti-ageing injections

These are administered to various different parts of your face and work to make the skin on your face much more relaxed. This process helps to soften out any effects of emotions, ageing, or stress that may be present in the area that has been targeted. They work by restricting the signals that come from nerves in the face to the small muscles there. When these muscles are tightened, it removes any lines that are in the face. These injections are administered mainly near the eyes and in the forehead, as these are the most problematic areas for most people. In addition to their wrinkle easing properties, the injections are also used to prevent excessive sweating in the underarm region. For this reason, they are popular with celebrities and other VIPs who want to avoid any unsightly stains on their clothing when attending important events, such as movie red carpets.

If either of these treatments sound like something that you would be interested in then it is important to first engage in a consultation meeting so that, with the help of a qualified medic, you can determine exactly what treatment or treatments are best for what you are trying to achieve with your face. It may be that after speaking with someone, that you decide on taking a completely different route.
