Early Signs of Skin Aging: Learn the Basics

Are you trying to keep your skin looking young and fresh?

As you age, your skin changes in ways you might not appreciate. But, if you keep an eye on early signs of aging, you’ll be able to keep your skin looking fresh and young for much longer.

Read on to learn all about the signs of skin aging.

Fine Lines Around Your Eyes

One of the first signs of aging you’ll see is fine lines around your eyelids and other areas of your face with thinner skin.

Using sunscreen regularly is one good way to avoid fine lines. There are other strategies you can use to prevent wrinkles, too.

Making the same facial expressions over and over can cause wrinkles, so try and train yourself to stop overusing your facial muscles. Wash your skin gently, and try not to pull at it too much.

Sun Spots

If you spend too much time hanging out in the sun, you may begin seeing sunspots on your skin. People with paler skin are somewhat more likely to see these spots earlier in their lives.

If you find yourself getting sun spots, start using a sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30. Instead of spending time laying out in the sun or on a tanning bed, use a self-tanning lotion or spray to get that sunkissed glow.

Sagging Skin

As you get older, your skin loses elasticity. This can eventually cause your skin to start sagging.

You can stop your skin from sagging by changing up your diet. Incorporate more fruits and vegetables into the rotation. If you smoke tobacco or use other nicotine products, quit as soon as you possibly can. Make these changes, and you’ll be on the road to preventing saggy skin.

Dull Skin

Your natural glow fades as you age. That’s because the cell turnover rate for your skin will slow down.

Drinking water can help keep your skin hydrating and glowing as you get older. Dehyration can cause further damage to your skin, particularly as you get older. So, aim to drink at least eight glasses of water each day.

Decrease the amount of alcohol that you drink in order to limit skin dehydration.

Dark Circles and Bags

Do you find yourself looking tired all the time? Dark circles and bags under your eyes can be one of the early signs of aging. Luckily, there’s one easy way to combat this sign. Start getting more sleep. You should be getting at least eight hours of sleep at night.

If your sleep schedule isn’t the problem, there are different undereye masks and products to help reduce the bags under your eyes and help you start looking younger.
